You would think that leaving in 44 days is a really long time until you go somewhere; however, I cannot believe how fast the time is flying by!! I leave for Grantham, England so soon. I am anxiously awaiting this trip across the pond for 3 months- I shall give you all an update on what has been happening since I have arrived home for the summer.
For all of you wondering what Harlaxton REALLY is, here are some videos from the study abroad director!
Since finishing my junior year of nursing from University of Evansville, I have come home and started working at Splash Valley in Kankakee as a pool manager to get a little extra spending money for my trip. I have worked nearly every day, but I enjoy my work because I am in the sun most of the day and I work with some great people. Here is a picture of the wonderful sun I have been getting! :)
Next, I have been trying to figure out how much money to budget for each trip. Unfortunately, it is quite expensive in Europe right now. The exchange rate is about $1.66 for the English pound. I basically have to double everything in order to realize how many American dollars I am really going to spend. YIKES!!! Not to worry, I can do mental math pretty well, and my budgeting techniques are working quite well.
Another task I have is nailing down which trips I am about to go on. I have attached links for the first two trips that I have placed a deposit on today for you all to read about- it's SOO exciting!! I was yelling in the house that I am going to Paris and Ireland, and my little brother looked at me and clapped his hands three times and went back to his TV show. Okay, so he wasn't as excited as I was, but it was still a fun moment for me to have!
Finally, I have to find a camera that I can get to take with me across the pond. I have been looking for a good camera, not just a small digital camera, but something that I can take quality pictures with. It is hard to shop for something that you don't know much about, so I may need some of your expertise (if you can give me any!) about which cameras I should be looking at. So far I really like Nikon cameras. I am thinking of something that I can learn to use in manual mode to get some quality pictures, so we shall see.
I think that is all for now, but I am sure there will be more posts as the days dwindle down more...ta-ta for now!
